Lawson
Lawson, Sir John, English seaman, was born about 1608, and served in the Parliamentary army and fleet during the Civil War. He was afterwards with Penn in the -Mediterranean, and was made rear-admiral of England in 1652, vice-admiral of the Red, and admiral of the Blue in 1653, and immediately afterwards vice-admiral of England. In 1665 he was wounded, and died from his injury.
