Kindergarten

Kindergarten = "children's garden," the German name for a school for young children conducted on Froebel's system, which combines amusement with instruction and aims at keeping children interested and developingtheirpowers of observation and elementary reasoning as well as their memory. The "object lesson" is an offspring of this system.
