Kashgari

Kashgari, a mixed Tatar people akin to the Uzbegs, forming the bulk of the population in Kashgar, with settlements in Ferghana, Andijan, and neighbouring districts, East Turkestan. Tall stature, olivaster complexion, black, red, or chestnut hair, full beard, brown eyes. Speech a marked Turki dialect current throughout Eastern Turkestan, but spoken in its purest form in the province of Aksu; has long been cultivated, and was formerly written in the Tatar character of Syrian origin, which is now replaced by the Arabo-Persian.
