Judith
Judith, the heroine of an apocryphal book of that name, in which she is described as killing Holofernes, a general of Nebuchadnezzar, King of Nineveh (sic), at the Siege of Bethulia. She is ar. ideal type of heroism, devoid of scruple and unburdened with natural feeling - another Jael. The book cannot be regarded as historical, and some have regarded it as a romance symbolic of the fortunes of the Jewish nation.
