Itch
Itch or Scabies. A skin disease produced by a parasite which, if allowed to develop in the epidermis of the skin, burrows extensively, producing an eruption which is accompanied by intense irritation. The itch mite, or acarus scabiei, somewhat resembles a cheese mite; it can only just be detected with the naked eye, but is readily visible on using a lens. The parts affected with special frequency are the wrists, palms, and interspaces between the fingers. The eruption produced consists of papules or vesicles, sometimes pustules.
