Indra
Indra, in Hindu mythology, one of the chief gods of the Vedie triad, corresponding in many points to Zeus or Jupiter of classical theogonies. He personifies the firmament, is the lord of heaven, the giver of light and rain, the controller of storms and clouds. In later ages he passes into a less important position. He is generally represented as young and handsome, riding on an elephant, and he is often depicted as possessing numbers of eyes.
