Hohenzollern
Hohenzollern, a principality of Prussia, which extends in a narrow strip between Wurtemberg and Baden. Its total area is 440 square miles, most of it mountainous and covercel with pine-forests, but the valleys watered by the Neckar and the Danube, with their tributaries, are highly cultivated. The name is traced to the old feudal castle of Zollern, near Hcchingen. The principality was divided into two in 1530, the southern and larger portion being known as Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, whilst the northern part is Hobenzollern-Hechingen, the towns of Signiaringoii and Hcchingen being the respective capitals.
