Heteroptera

Heteroptera, a division of Rhynchota (q.v.), including those with the anterior pair of wings membranous at the ends but hard and chitinous at the base, known as hemelytra (q.v.). The group is divided into two subdivisions - the Waterbugs (Hgdrocorisce), and Land-bugs (Geocoriscs). The best-known forms are the Water-measurers (Hydroinetra), Water-scorpions (Nepa), etc.
