Hatfield

Hatfield, a market-town in Hertfordshire 18 miles N.N.W. of London. It was formerly the property of the Bishops of Ely, and is hence sometimes called Bishops Hatfield; but the palace and manor were seized by Henry VIII., and the former became a royal residence. Earl of Salisbury, and still continues to be the property of his descendants.
