Harrisburg

Harrisburg, the chief town of Pennsylvania, stands on the left bank of the Susquehanna, 106 miles N.W. of Philadelphia. Its chief buildings are the Capitol, the state arsenal, and lunatic asylum, a Roman Catholic cathedral, and about forty other churches. There is also a large state library. The city, though beautifully situated, is a great manufacturing town, steel and iron being the chief industries, and has also a large lumber trade.
