Granby, John, Marquis of (1721-1770), son of the Duke of Rutland, joined, in 1759, the army sent under Lord George Sackville to aid Prussia. After the battle of Minden the Meirquis was made commander-in-chief of the British troops employed in the wm". In 1766 he became commander-inchief of the army at home. He was very popular, though Junius did not spare him from attack.
