Glovers Tower
Glover's Tower, a tower built of lead, lined with firebricks, which is employed in sulphuric acid manufacture for the purpose of utilising the nitrous fumes absorbed by sulphuric acid in another stage of the process. The acid is allowed to flow down over flints in the tower, mixed with a weak acid, when the fumes are evolved, and pass off with the sulphurous acid which is passing up the towers to the chambers to again assist in the production of the acid.
