Gets

Gets are mentioned by Herodotus as one of the Thracian tribes. They dwelt on the north side of the Danube near its mouth, and are said to have. crossed the river about the middle of the 4th century B.C. They afterwards united themselves with the Dacians, and proved a formidable adver--' sary to the Romans till 106 A.D., when together with the Dacians they were subdued by Trajan, and their territory became a part of the empire. They were subsequently overthrown by the Goths (q.v.), with whom they became blended.
