Geiler

Geiler, or Ge yler von Kaisersberg, Johann, was born at Schaffhausen in 1445, but passed his infancy at the place in Alsace from which he got his second name. He studied at Freiburg, where he afterwards became professor, and at Basel; but his true vocation was preaching, and in 1478 he accepted a call to the cathedral of Strasburg, where he remained until his death in 1510.
