Gadidae

Gadidae (Cod-fishes), a family of Anacanthinous fishes, with twenty-one genera from Arctic and temperate seas. The body is elongated, and covered with small smooth scales; dorsal fin generally divided; ventral fins on the under side of the throat. They are very important food fishes.
