Fulminating Gold
Fulminating Gold. A compound of the composition Au503(NH,), the preparation and properties of which have been long known, being described by Basil Valentine in the 15th century. It is best prepared by the action of ammonia "upon gold hydroxide Au(OH)3. It is a greenish brown powder, which explodes very violently upon percussion or heating.
