Frederick I_1
Frederick I., King of Prussia (1657-1713), was born at Konigsberg, and succeeded his father, Frederick William (q.v.), in the electorate of Brandenburg in 1688. He increased his territory by purchase, and was rewarded for his support of the grand alliance, against France with the title of first King of Prussia, which he assumed in 1701.
