Figaro

Figaro, a character, in Beaumarchais' Barbier de Seville and Mariage de Figaro, represented at Paris in 1785. Figaro is a cunning knave, who knows how to take advantage of circumstances. The Parisian newspaper of that name was founded in 1854.
