Erzgebirge
Erzgebirge, a mountain chain between Saxony and Bonemia, rising to a height of about 4,000 feet. The mountains are rich in minerals, whence their name, which means ore-mountains. Among the minerals are arsenic, cobalt, copper, iron, lead, and silver, and the formations are chiefly granite and gneiss, with clay slate, basalt, and, in the Bohemian part, brown coal.
