Erie

Erie, a city and port on Presqu'ile Bay, on the south shore of Lake Erie, in the state of Pennsylvania, United States, 300 miles N.W. of Pennsylvania, with which it communicates by a railway. The harbour is good, and there is a large trade in coal, iron, petroleum, and farm produce. There are foundries, blast-furnaces, and other iron-works, oil refineries, wood factories, breweries, and tanneries.
