Epoch

Epoch of a planet at any instant is its mean longitude reckoned from the sun. It is one of the elements in a planet's orbit. In kinematics, the epoch of a simple harmonic motion (q.v.) denotes the position of the moving body, measured either from its extreme or mid-point, from which time is reckoned.
