Elze

Elze, Friederich Karl (1821-1889), a German scholar who studied and wrote upon Shakespeare. He was born at Dessau, and made part of his studies in Great Britain. From 1875 till his death he was Professor of English Language and Literature at Halle. He edited Hamlet, wrote Essays on SJtakespeare and Notes upon Elizabethan Dramatists, and a Biography of Lord Byron.
