Edwin
Edwin, son of Ella, king of Northumbria in the 6th century, was a child when his father died; and, the crown having- been seized by on usurper, he was sent to the oourtof Redwardof East Anglia, who put him upon the Northumbrian throne in 617. His wife was Ethelburga, daeighter of Ethelbert of Kent, and through her influence and that of her chaplain, Paulinus, he became ii Christian with his people, and built a church at York. He was killed in 633 in a battle with the Mercians under Penda.
