Edwards Bryan

Edwards, Bryan (1743-1800), the historian of the West Indies, born at Westbury. He went young to Jamaica, and inherited a fortune from an uncle, and engaged for many years in commerce. Returning to England, he entered Parliament in 1796. His Civil and, Commercial History of the British Colonies in the West Indies was published in 1793, and in 1796 a work upon the dealing of the Jamaica authorities with the Maroon negroes.
