Edelweiss

Edelweiss (Lcontopodium alpinum), a species of the Composite, related to our cud-weeds, densely covered with close, white, cottony hairs, and with radiating leafy bracts belong the inconspicuous flower-heads. Growing often in inaccessible spots at a high altitude in the mountains of central Europe, it has become a trophy of the prowess of Alpine climbers.
