Dragoon

Dragoon, a cavalry soldier. The earliest regiment of dragoons was raised in England in 1681. They are now classed as heavy or light dragoons, according to their arms and equipment. Originally they were more like the mounted infantry ol to-day. The name is derived from the formei ornamentation of the muzzles of their guns with l dragon's head.
