Dragonet
Dragonet, any fish of the Acanthopterygian genus Callionymus, with about 30 species, all of small size and generally of brilliant coloration, widely distributed in temperate seas of the Eastern hemisphere. In the males the fin-rays are produced into long filaments. The Gemmeous Dragonet (C. lyra) is British; it is about a foot long, yellow with brown spots, and is locally known as the Skulpin, a name given in America to a marine species of Cottus.
