Dorislaus

Dorislaus, Isaak (1595-1649), was born at Alkmaar, in Holland, and in 1627 came to England, where he lectured upon History at Cambridge, and was appointed Judge - Advocate. In the Civil struggle he sided with the Parliamentarians, and in 1649 went to Holland to negotiate an alliance with the States-General, and here he was stabbed by some Royalist conspirators. His body was buried in Westminster Abbey, whence it was removed to St. Margaret's church in 1661.
