Dinan
Dinan, a French town in the department Cotes-du-Nord (Brittany), on the Ranee, 14 miles S. of St. Malo, is prettily situated on a steep hill, 200 feet above the river, and is surrounded by old walls, now mostly ruined. Some of the monuments of Dinan are historically interesting, among them being St. Saviour's church, which contains the heart of Bertrand du Guesclin, the fourteenth-century castle of the Dukes of Brittany - now used as a prison - with the tower of Queen Anne, with its chapel containing Duchess Anne's easy chair. A saline hot spring, and the chateau of La Garaye, celebrated by Mrs. Norton, are in the neighbourhood.
