Dilke
Dilke, Charles Wentworth (1789-1864), an English journalist and critic, born in London. He was educated at Cambridge, and employed in the Civil Service. From 1830 to 1846 he was proprietor and editor of the Athenauni, and in the latter year he established the Daily News, which he edited for three years. Among his works were six volumes of Old English Plays, and many of his papers have been edited, together with a biographical sketch, by Sir Charles Dilke, grandson of the author.
