Devils Coach Horse
Devil's Coach Horse (Ocypus oleus, Linn.) is one of the largest and best known of the Staphylinidae, or "Rove Beetles." It is very common in English lanes and fields, and can be readily recognised by the defiant attitude, with head and tail thrown well up, which it assumes when alarmed. It can inflict rather a sharp bite.
