Dermestidae

Dermestidae, a family of beetles of which the eggs are usually deposited in animal matter; the larvae, when hatched, burrow through this and soon secure its putrefaction. Thus the larvae of a single brood of the Bacon Beetle (Dermestes lardarius, Linn.) will destroy a whole ham.
