Curzola
Curzola (formerly Corcyra, called "Black" to distinguish it from its more famous namesake), an island of the Adriatic, forming part of the province of Dalmatia, and having a length of 25 miles and an average width of 4 miles. Originally Phoenician, it was afterwards colonised by Greeks from Cnidus. The town Curzola has a cathedral, a palace of the old Venetian government, and much fifteenth-century architecture. It is famed for boat-building. The population of the island is about 12,000, that of the town about 2,000.
