Creuzer
Creuzer, George Friedrich, born at Marburg in 1771, became professor of philology and ancient history at Heidelberg in 1804. His great work, Symbolism and Mythology of Ancient Peoples, especially the Greeks (1810-12), was severely criticised by Hermann, but spread his name throughout Europe. The Grand Duke of Baden made him a Privy Councillor. He resigned his chair in 1848, and died ten years later.
