Coluber
Coluber, a Linnaean genus of snakes, which included the venomous and non-venomous Colubrine Snakes. It is now greatly restricted and is the type of a universally distributed, family (Colubridae), to which the English Ringed Snake (q.v.) belongs. The best known species of the genus is the AEsculapian or Schlangenbad Snake (C. aesculapii), widely distributed in Europe.
