Chelmsford The Right Hon Frederic
Chelmsford, The Right Hon. Frederic Thesiger, Baron, was born in 1794. Entering the navy he quitted that service for the law, and was called to the bar in 1818. Acquiring a reputation on the home circuit, he was made a King's Counsel in 1834; in 1840 he entered Parliament, was knighted, and made Solicitor-General by Sir Robert Peel in 1844, and Attorney-General in 1845, and again in 1852, being lord chancellor under Lord Derby in 1858 and 1866. He died in 1878.
