Chambery
Chambery, a city of France, in the department of Savoy, is situated in a beautiful district on the river Laisse. It has a cathedral, the old castle of the Dukes of Savoy, and the palace of justice. It is an archbishop's see, and in its vicinity is the chateau of Les Charmettes, at one time Rousseau's residence. Among the town's manufactures are clocks, wine, soap, and textile fabrics. It bas excellent baths and is a favourite summer resort.
