Castellioor Castelli Benedetto
Castellio, or Castelli, Benedetto, born at Brescia in 1577, entered a monastic order, but was a scientific follower of Galileo. He held a professorship of mathematics at Pisa, and afterwards at the Sapienza College in Rome, and he invented, at the suggestion of Pope Urban VIII., a system for measuring the volume of running water. He died in 1644.
