Bundelkhand
Bundelkhand, a territory of the North-Western Provinces, India, lies between the Jumna on the N.E., and the Chambal on the N. and W., and belongs partly to Britain and partly to native chiefs tributary to Britain. Its area is about 20,000 square miles, and embraces the five districts belonging to the British North-Western Provinces, Bauda, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, and Hamirpur, and thirty-one native states. The produce is mostly agricultural, though in some parts iron ore, copper, and diamonds are found. The chief towns are Jhansi, Baudah, and Chatterpoor.
