Bull Johnmusician
Bull, John, musician and composer, was born in 1563, in Somersetshire. In 1591 he was appointed organist in the Queen's chapel in succession to Blitheman, his master; in 1596 received the degree of doctor of music at Cambridge; in 1596 became music lecturer at Gresham college; and in 1597 organist to James I. He became in 1617 organist to the cathedral of Notre Dame at Antwerp, where he died in 1628. He is one of the many on whose behalf claims to the authorship of God Save the King have been advanced.
