Braun
Braun, August Emil, archaeologist, was born in 1809 at Gotha, Germany. After studying at Gottingen and Munich he went in 1833 to Rome, where he was appointed librarian and subsequently secretary of the Archaeological Institute. His works, which were written in English, German, and Italian, are numerous and highly valuable to archaeology and art. He died in 1856 at Rome.
