Brantome

Brantome, Pierre de Bourdeilles. Seigneur de, historian, was born about 1540 in Gascony. After some experience in arms he retired, after Charles IX.'s death, from active life and devoted himself to the writing of his Memoires of the celebrated men and women he had met, Brantome died in 1014.
