Berbertown
Berber (town), a town on the right bank of the Nile, near the confluence of the Atbara. It is important as the point at which the caravans from Cairo and from Suakin meet on the way to Khartoum, and in 1885 the British commenced a railway from Suakin to this place, but the works were soon abandoned.
