Bellot
Bellot, Joseph Rene, explorer, was born in 1826 in Paris. He was a French naval officer, and in 1851 he joined the polar expedition sent out in search of Sir John Franklin. In one of his explorations in 1852 he discovered Bellot Strait, which was afterwards more fully investigated by McClintock. He was drowned in the following year, and in 1855 his diary was published.
