Bard Italy

Bard, Italy, a village in Piedmont, Italy, 23 miles S.E. of Aosta, commanding by means of its fortress the pass into that valley from France. Napoleon, checked here in 1800 by a small Austrian garrison, destroyed the fort, but it has since been rebuilt.
