Balbi Gaspald
Balbi, Gaspald, a native of Venice, who, for the purpose of trading in precious stones, started from Aleppo in 1579 and travelled extensively in the East, visiting Ormuz, Goa, Cochin, and Pegu. On his return in 1588 he wrote a graphic and faithful account of his journey, and soon afterwards died.
