Balasore

Balasore, a district and its capital town in the Orissa division of British India, The district occupies a strip on the coast of the Bay of Bengal, with an area of 2,068 square miles. Balasore, the capital, stands on the river Barabalang, about 8 miles from the coast. Only small vessels can cross the bar at the river's mouth, but there is a considerable trade with the coast and the Maldive Islands.
