Baillie Robert
Baillie, Robert, born at Glasgow in 1602, entered Episcopalian orders, and became regent of the University. He joined the Covenanters when Laud endeavoured to force his canons and services on the Scottish Church, and he went to London in 1640 to urge the charges against the Archbishop.
At the same time he was a staunch adherent of the king's party, and after the Restoration in 1661 was Principal of Glasgow University, a post for which he was fitted by his sound learning. He died in 1662.
