Athenaeum

Athenaeum (lit. the temple of Athene), anciently an institution built by Hadrian and consecrated to Athene, which was much frequented by poets and literary men. The term is now applied to any establishment founded for the purpose of encouraging literature or art, to which is often attached a reading-room or library.
