Athecata

Athecata, the sub-order of Hydrozoa, in which there are neither Hydrothecae nor Gonothecae (i.e. cups for the protection of the polypites or feeding members of the colony, or for the gonophores or reproductive members). It is synonymous with Gymnoblasteae.
